LA CHARTREUSE DE VALBONNE
12 / 09 / 2008
Founded in 1204, the Carthusian monastery of Valbonne is located at the heart of an exceptional forest in the Provence hills. Up until 1901 a community of monks lived in this monastery, following the rules of Saint Bruno. From the Conventual Church to the Chapel of Relcs, Through the small Cloister to the Grand Cloister and after a visit to a monk's cell, one can imagine the life of the Carthusian Order within the site, and discover their universe of silence and solitude.
The Chartreuse de Valbonne acts as an important part of the regional Provence heritage. The project was designed to invite visitors to experiment the tranquility and serenity of this centuries-old retreat. We tried to make the visitors feel the historical depth of the building and also aimed at the recreation of the original historical aspect.
